Our school was established in 1983, and it is the third kindergarten under the umbrella of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. The school was renamed as “TWGHs Hung Wong Kar Gee Kindergarten”, after receiving a generous donation from Ms. Wong Kar Gee, – a member of the former Board of Directors for TWGHs – for our campus renovation and the purchase of teaching tools and materials.
In line with the TWGHs mission of “holistic education”, we strive to offer students balanced learning opportunities in the six aspects of development, (i.e. moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, spiritual). The core elements of our diverse curriculum include:
The school also focuses on the moral development of our children, as we aim to nurture positive values for them.
The school has also incorporated environmental education as a part of our curriculum. We have established an eco-friendly campus to enhance our students’ environmental awareness. We also organise a variety of parent-child activities to promote the message of sustainability and environmental protection at home, to teach them to lead a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.
Our school has implemented the “Happy Friday” programme, in line with the “Promoting learning through play and strengthening the element of free exploration in play” concept highlighted in the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide” (2017). The programme helps to create a safe environment conducive to play, to allow children to engage in free play. Children are encouraged to choose from a variety of toys, invite their peers to join in, and devise their own rules for games, based on their own preferences and ability. In turn, this makes games more interesting and fun, as children learn to express their emotions and explore their surroundings.
Our environment includes a range of amenities to provide an engaging and comfortable learning environment for children. We have nine classrooms, including some special feature rooms, namely multi-purpose room, music room, activity room and parent resource room.
